The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, has invited applications for a national level entrance examination to be held on January 18, 2012 for admission to the following courses:
M.Sc. biology: The course is conducted at TIFR Mumbai. Duration: 3 years. Eligiblity: Bachelor's degree in basic sciences with good academic record.
M.Sc. wildlife biology and conservation: The course is conducted at NCBS, Bangalore. Course duration: two years.
Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50 per cent marks and strong interest in wildlife research and conservation. Final year degree students are eligible to apply. Age-limit: 35 years as on July 1, 2011.
Integrated Ph.D. course in mathematics: The course is offered in CAM Bangalore. An integrated Ph.D. course in biology is offered at NCBS Bangalore. Duration: six years. The eligibility for integrated Ph.D. in mathematics is B.Sc./ BE/ B.Tech. degree.
The eligibility for the course in biology is Bachelor's degree in basic sciences with good marks.
Ph.D. programmes are offered in mathematics at TIFR Mumbai and CAM Bangalore; physics, chemistry, computers and systems sciences, and biology offered at TIFR Mumbai and NCBS Bangalore. The course duration is five years.

For Ph.D. degree course in biology, M.Sc./ B.Sc./ BE/ B.Tech. / B.V.Sc./ B.Pharm. / MBBS/ BDS/ M. Pharm. with academic merit.
For Ph.D. degree course in computer and systems sciences, BE / B.Tech. /ME / M.Tech. degree in electrical/ electronics/ IT / MCA/ M.Sc. computer science degree holders are eligible to apply. Final year students in the qualifying degree course with good academic record and knowledge advanced topics may also apply.
