The duration of FMS 2-year Full Time MBA Admission test is 2 hours. The test is divided into various sections. A candidate needs to score at least 50 percentile in each section of the test to qualify for being short-listed for the GD/PI stage. Then the candidates are shortlisted on the basis of the merit list prepared according to the overall percentile scores of the qualified candidates. The percentile scores in FMS are calculated on the basis of the category of the candidates and no inter-category comparison is made.
Last year the test had 200 questions divided equally into four sections. Each question had four options and carried four marks. Incorrect answers carried a penalty of one mark. An analysis of the scores obtained by the shortlisted students shows that the cut-off marks for the General category candidates were as follows...
English comprehension - 35 out of 200
Analytical ability & Logical Reasoning - 63 out of 200
Verbal ability - 37 out of 200
Quantitative ability - 41 out of 200
Overall - 331 out of 800
A few RC passages in the last year`s exam were picked directly from the previous years` question papers. So you are advised to go through all the available previous FMS entrance exam papers thoroughly. One area where you should work really hard at this stage is Vocabulary since the paper contains many Vocab-based questions.
