Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana(KVPY) Fellowship examination


The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana offers national-level fellowships to students interested in a career in research. The Department of Science and Technology of the Union government offers the fellowships ranging Rs. 4,000 to 7,000 a month and annual contingency grants equivalent to four months of the said sum to students studying in class XI and doing B.Sc., BS, integrated M.Sc., B.V.Sc., B.Pharm., BE, B.Tech., B.Arch,, MBBS, and BDS courses.

Selection is open to Indian nationals studying in India who clear an aptitude test and show academic excellence and a demonstrated interest in research.

Applications are invited for the test on October 30. These can be submitted online or by post.

Eligibility

The following categories may apply.

Students in class XI in science subjects who have secured at least 80 per cent marks (70 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) in aggregate in mathematics and science subjects in the class X board examination

Students enrolled in class XII or Plus Two who aspire to join undergraduate programmes in basic science (B.Sc., BS or integrated M.Sc. course) next year, with at least 80 per cent marks (70 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) in aggregate in mathematics and science subjects in the class X board examination.

Students in first year B.Sc., BS, integrated M.Sc., BE, B.Tech., and B.Arch. courses who have secured at least 60 per cent marks (50 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) in aggregate in science subjects in the class XII board examination.

Students in class XI or XII or first or second year B.Sc., BS, integrated M.Sc., BE, B.Tech., or B.Arch courses who have secured at least 60 per cent marks (50 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) in aggregate in class X or XII board examinations, as the case might be.

Students enrolled in second year B.Sc., BS, integrated M.Sc., BE, B.Tech., or B.Arch. programme with at least 60 per cent (50 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) marks in the first year examination.

A hard copy of an original, creative science-based research project must be submitted along with the application.

Students in first or second year of the MBBS, BDS, B.V.Sc., or B.Pharm. programme with at least 80 per cent (70 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) marks in aggregate in science subjects in the class XII board examination. Students enrolled in the second year of these courses may apply if they have 60 per cent (50 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) marks in the first year examination.

A hard copy of an original, creative biomedical project must be submitted with the application.

Applicants have been classified into the streams of SA, SX, SB, SP, and SP (medicine) based on qualification.

Each stream has its own application form. Students who wish to apply for more than one stream should submit separate applications.

Applications may be submitted apply either physically or online through www.kvpy.org.in. A processing fee of Rs.200 (Rs.100 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) will be charged.

Application form and details can be downloaded from the website www.kvpy.org.in.

The completed application form and the documents should reach the yojana on or before September 12. However, online applications should be submitted on or before September 9.
