IMI now in Kolkata and Bhubaneswar offering 2 year PGDM

Therefore we advise you to decide your centre which is at the shortest distance from your place of stay. We shall not reimburse expenses on local conveyance.

The Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore-Admission to full-time residential Ph.D. programmes


Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC) was founded by Professor VKRV Rao in 1972. Its primary objective is to provide high quality academic training to Ph D Students to prepare them as distinguished researchers and teachers in the field of social sciences. ISEC is presently affiliated to Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore and Osmania Universities and the National Law School of India University for the award of PhD degree.

Disciplines of Specialisation

The test for admission will be administered only in the disciplines/specializations mentioned here. Eligibility requirements are the same for all candidates. The disciplines or specializations available for taking up entrance test for PhD in the Institute are:

Eligibility

The aspirants for ISEC Ph D Programme and research fellowships must satisfy the following requirements:

Master's degree or equivalent in any of the above disciplines with at least 55% marks in the aggregate (50% in case of SC/ST applicants);

A pass in UGC-NET or JRF or SLET or M Phil is desirable;

Age limit for ICSSR fellowships - below 35 years, 40 years in case of teachers and members of professional staff in Research Institutes.

There is no age limit for ISEC Fellowship, Part-time or External PhD Programme.

Other Discipline-wise Eligibility Requirements:

Candidates applying in Agricultural Economics/Rural Development should have a Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Agricultural Economics or Rural Development.

Candidates applying in Economics should have a Master’s Degree in Economics/Statistics/Econometrics.

Candidates applying in Environmental/Ecological Economics/Natural Resource Economics should have Master’s Degree in Economics or other relevant disciplines including Biological Sciences and engineering.

Candidates applying in Education should have a Master’s Degree in Education preferably with specialisation in Economics of Education/Sociology of Education/Educational Planning and Management.

Candidates applying in Political Science/International Relations/Public Administration should have a Master’s Degree in Political Science/International Relations/Public Administration.

Candidates applying in Population/Demographic Studies should have Master’s Degree in Demography/Population Studies or Economics/Statistics/Sociology or Anthropology or Geography, preferably with specialisation in Population Studies.

Candidates applying in Sociology/Social Anthropology should have Master’s Degree in Sociology/Anthropology (Social Anthropology).

Candidates applying in Development Studies should have Master’s Degree in any of the Social Sciences, MBA or acceptable Master’s degree by IDS, Mysore.

Fellowship

Candidates who have passed UGC-JRF are paid the fellowship as per the UGC norms, upon receipt of fellowship grant from UGC. These Fellowship holders should comply with all the requirements of the UGC, from time to time.

The candidates who have UGC-NET or SLET are paid a scholarship of Rs.6,000 p.m. while others (non-UGC-NET/SLET) are paid Rs.5,000 p.m. for a period of 10 months during pre-PhD Coursework and contingency of Rs.12000 per annum. Upon successful completion of PhD Coursework the fellowship is extendable to a further period of three years when fellowship payable during the first two years would be Rs.12,000/- p.m. and a contingency of Rs.10,000/- per annum. During the third year the fellowship payable will be Rs.14000/- p.m. and the annual contingency will be Rs.20,500/-. These Fellowship holders should comply with all the requirements of the ICSSR/ISEC, from time to time.

Selection Procedure

After preliminary screening of applications, the short listed candidates will be called for a written test to be held on July 13, 2011. The list of candidates to be called for written test shall be displayed on our website www.isec.ac.in on or before 25th June, 2011. Candidates qualifying in the written test will be required to appear for an interview at Centre level on July 14-15, 2011.

The duly filled-in application form with all the relevant enclosures should be submitted along with the application fee of Rs.500/- (Rs.150/- in case of SC/STs) in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Registrar, ISEC, Bangalore (The DD is payable at State Bank of Mysore, Mallathahalli Branch, Bangalore. Branch code: SBMY0040457). Candidates who are awaiting their final year PG results may also apply. However, it is mandatory to produce the proof of final PG examination results at the time of the admission test. The Pre-PhD Coursework begins in the first week of August 2011

Central Universities Common Entrance Test(CUCET) 2011-12 Notification


Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET 2011) notification has been announced. This is a wonderful opportunity for those interested in studying PG, Graduation, MBA and Integrated Courses in the listed central universities in Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Bihar, Jammu kashmir, Kerala, Rajasthan and Jharkhand. Candidates need to write only one entrance exam for admission in 7 central universities. This is single Common Entrance Examination for admission into various courses for the academic year 2011-12. List of participating universities is given below. This will save so much application money and energies and time of the students. The Government of India has established these Central Universities following the recommendations of National Knowledge Commission (NKC). HP-CMAT-2011


HP-CMAT is a common entrance test for admission to Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme for all the universities/Institutions affiliated to universities in Himachal Pradesh. In accordance with the UGC guidelines there shall be only one entrance test for all such Institutions. The Government of Himachal Pradesh, Department of Technical Education has designated (MBA Deptt.) Institute of Management Studies, HP University Summerhill, Shimla-5, as the Nodal agency for conducting Entrance Test for MBA admission to all the Universities/ Institutions affiliated to universities in HP. The HP-CMAT 2008 will be basis for admission to the following affiliated Institutions:

HP-CMAT 2011 Eligibility

The candidates should not be more than 26 years of age except NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign National candidates/students, and serving/retired defence personnel. For the SC/ST candidates, there is a relaxation of three years in the upper age limit.

The candidates need to have passed in graduation or its equivalent examination under 10+2+3 scheme, from any recognized University.

The qualifying examination must be passed by the candidates with not less than 50% marks in aggregate. In case of SC/ST candidates, they need to have passed graduation with at least 45% marks in the qualifying examination.

HP-CMAT 2011 Fees

The application form along with prospectus can be obtained either from the institute’s cash counter by depositing Rs.500/- (Subsidized & non-Subsidized) (Rs. 250 for SC/ST candidates) or by post by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.550/- (Subsidized & non-Subsidized) (Rs.300 for SC/ST candidates) in favour of “Director, IMS HP University”, payable at Shimla.

Kerala Agricultural University (KAU)-Admission to the two-year fulltime MBA (agri-business management)


The Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has invited applications for admission to the two-year fulltime MBA (agri-business management) offered at the College of Co-operation, Banking and Management in the main                                                                         campus at Vellanikkara, Thrissur.

Objective

This programme aims at empowering graduates especially from agricultural universities with critical management and entrepreneurial competencies enabling them to own and manage agri-business enterprises.

Another unique feature is dual specialisation comprising marketing, finance and human resource management domains.

Hi-tech classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visual media facilities are also provided for the programme.

Project placements in agri-business companies during second and final semesters will be arranged. Total intake for the course is 40 seats. The selection will be on the basis of written test, group discussion, personal interview and academic merit in the qualifying degree.

Eligibility: Graduates in any disciplines including agriculture with at least 55 per cent marks and those awaiting their final results of the qualifying degree are eligible to apply.

The written management aptitude test will be held on June 25 at 10 a.m. in the KAU main campus, Vellanikkara. The candidate will be ranked according to marks scored in the KAU Management Aptitude Test (120 marks), qualifying degree (30 marks), group discussion (25 marks), and interview (25 marks).

The tuition fee per semester of the programme is Rs.25,000.

The admission fee will be Rs.5,000. The total fee to be remitted at the time of admission is Rs.36,500.

Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh(National level test for fellowships in life sciences)


The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has invited applications for national level test to be held on July 17 at Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, Varanasai, Guwahati, Kolkata for the award of ICMR- Junior Research Fellowships. The test will be conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in collaboration with PGIMER. A total of 150 fellowships will be awarded based on the score obtained in the test. Majority of the fellowships (120 nos.) are available for life sciences stream viz. microbiology, molecular biology, human biology, physiology, genetics, biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biophysics, immunology, botany, zoology, pharmacology, environmental sciences, veterinary sciences. Thirty fellowships are available in social sciences stream including psychology, sociology , home science, social work and health economics, statistics, anthropology.

Eligibility: MA/ M.Sc. degree holders in the relevant subjects with minimum 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for SC/ ST and physically challenged applicants) are eligible to apply. Upper age-limit is 28 years as on September 30, relaxable up to five year, for SC/ ST / PH and female applicants and three years for OBC applicants.
