NMAT 2012

NMAT is the MBA entrance exam for admissions to Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai.

The NMAT is designed on a multiple-choice question format that includes Language Skills; Quantitative Skills, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency; and Logical Reasoning.

NMAT 2012 dates are officially announced on Pearsonvue’s official website. The online entrance exam is scheduled from October 31, 2011 to January 6, 2012, in a 10 weeks testing window. Candidates have the choice to select an appropriate date and time in a real time mode, based on availability of seats at each of the test centres.

NMAT-2012 will have three sections – Language skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning, each section individually timed. Candidates can answer the sections and review the questions of that particular section within the stipulated time. There will not be any possibility of jumping from one section to another in between, a section once left cannot be reviewed back.

The number of questions and time allotted for each section is…

Section             No. of Items (questions)              Allotted time

Language Skills          32                                     22 mins

Quantitative Skills      48                                    60 mins

Logical Reasoning     40                                    38 mins

Total                         120                                   120

The time allotted for each section is fixed and no time adjustment can be done. Say time allotted for Language Skills section is 22 minutes, but if a candidate attempts this section in 20 minutes, the rest 2 minutes can not be adjusted with any other section. Once a candidate leaves a section by choice or after time allotted ends he/she will not be able to go back and review or answer any question. However, candidates can prioritize which section to answer first.

Key features:
1- Choice of attempts – Candidates can make as much as three attempts in NMAT 2012. If candidates are not satisfied with their first attempt they can retake the test to improve their score.

2- No negative marking – Unlike other MBA entrance exams, there is no negative marking in NMAT 2012. This will allow candidates to make informed guesses and not drop any question for the fear of loosing marks. The system is as per global practices and psychometric principles.

3- Unique question paper for every candidate – Every candidate will get a unique question paper. The difficulty level of each question paper is set to be equal.

4- Equated results – Candidates taking NMAT 2012 will get their equated score in a span of 4-5 weeks from exam delivery. This will help candidates know their performance in time.
