M.Phil. degree in bioinformatics-University of Kerala


The University of Kerala has invited applications for an entrance test to be conducted on August 20 at Kariavattom, University Campus, Thiruvananthapuram, for admission to its one-year full-time M.Phil. course in bioinformatics. Admission is open to students who have Master's degree in computer science, life science and allied subjects/ M.Tech./ MCA/ M.Sc. agriculture/ M.Pharm.

The programme focuses on the understanding and use of tools in bioinformatics and giving exposure to theoretical and practical aspects of bioinformatics.

Those who successfully complete the programme can register for Ph.D. at the University of Kerala without any entrance test and are eligible to submit there thesis in a minimum time of two years.

Duly filled in application along with required documents should be submitted before August 10.

The entrance test consists of 100 objective-type questions covering 20 questions each on computer science and general biology, and 60 questions on logic and numeric reasoning.

Index mark for ranking is 50 per cent aggregate in Master's degree and 50 per cent in entrance marks. Admission procedure will be completed in October/ November.
