Applications have been invited for admission to the five-year BS-MS dual-degree programmes conducted at the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) in Thiruvananthapuram, Pune, Mohali, Bhopal, and Kolkata.
The interdisciplinary areas available for the courses are biology, chemistry, earth sciences, mathematics, and physics. The first two years will have core courses in basic sciences and the third and fourth years will be dedicated to specialisation in the chosen science subject. The fifth year will be devoted to a research project.
Those who have passed Plus Two in the science stream and have qualified in the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) examination or the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT-JEE) or have obtained top marks or grade in class 12 in the Central and State Board examinations are eligible to apply.
Applications can be submitted online on www.iiser-admissions.in. The application fee is Rs.500 (Rs.250 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes).
Candidates who have qualified in the KVPY should submit their online applications from April 2 to May 5 and in the IIT-JEE from June 7 to 21.
Those who obtain high marks or grade in 12th standard examinations should submit their applications from June 15 to July 9 and an aptitude test will be held for them on July 14. Admission counselling will be held on June 30 for KVPY and IIT-JEE applicants. All students admitted get a monthly scholarship of Rs.5,000.
