Indian Institute of Management (IIT) Bombay invites application for admission into Master of Management program for the session 2012-2014 at the Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM/SOM).
Selection Procedure - Candidates from India
The prospective candidates are required to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs every year. Please note that the Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is discontinued from 2011. The candidates will be invited to appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview in the first week of March 2012 based on their performance in CAT.The candidates have to apply for CAT, and admission to Master of Management separately. The IIMs have no role in the selection of candidates for admission to the management programme offered by School of Management (SOM), IIT Bombay.
Eligibility
The candidates securing a minimum aggregate of 60% [CGPI = 6.5/10] over all the semesters of their Bachelor degree in engineering (or equivalent) or Masters degree in Science (and first class Bachelor degree) are eligible for admission to the Master of Management Programme. There is a relaxation of 5% in marks or equivalent in CGPI for SC/ST candidates.Those appearing for the final degree examination can also apply. The admission in such cases will be subject to their fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria.
Admission Procedure
The candidates are required to appear for online CAT 2011 between Saturday, October 22, 2011 and Friday, November 18, 2011. Online registration for CAT 2011 opened on August 17, 2011, and will be available until September 28, 2011.After the CAT 2011 results are declared, the applicants are required to complete the online application available here, from the second week of January 2012. The last date for receiving the completed application is January 31, 2012.
The short-listed candidates will be invited to appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview in the first week of March 2012 based on their performance in CAT.
Selection Procedure - Candidates from Abroad
EligibilityThe candidates holding a foreign passport, or Indian passport but studying/working abroad continuously for at least the last two years, and having a valid GMAT score are included in this category.They should have an undergraduate degree or equivalent in Engineering (e.g. BS with major in any branch of Engineering, B.E., B.Tech., etc.) with First Class (grade point average of 6.5 on a scale of 10) or a graduate degree in any branch of Science (e.g. MS, M.Sc. etc.) with First Class (grade point average of 6.5 in a scale of 10) at Bachelor and Masters level.
Those appearing for the final degree examination can also apply. The admission in such cases will be subject to their fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria. Work experience is desirable but not essential.
The candidates holding a foreign passport should qualify in TOEFL or IELTS.
Admission Procedure
The applicants are required to send their completed offline application available from 20th January 2012 at http://www.som.iitb.ac.in. The last date for receiving the completed application is February 25, 2012.Everyone with a valid GMAT score can apply. The short-listed candidates are invited for a Personal Interview.
The candidates have to appear for the interview at SOM, IIT Bombay if they happen to be in Mumbai at the time of the interview. The others have to appear for a telephonic interview at the scheduled time on the appointed day.
