Introduction
In order to meet the growing demand for management education, the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal, with the help of a donation from Narsee Monjee Educational Trust, established a recognized Management institute of the Mumbai University in 1981.
Since then NMIMS has grown into a flourishing University, offering courses / programs across various disciplines, such as Management, Technology, Science, Pharmacy, Architecture and Commerce. Today, the University has over 5000 students and more than 200 faculty members. The faculty at the University represent an eclectic mix of Industry and Academic experience; national and international experiences.
This Handout gives information about the Admission Procedure and Admission Test for 4 year B. Tech. & 5 year Dual B.Tech + Program of MBA(Tech.) for the academic year commencing from July/August, 2011. Admission for these programs is through NMAT (T) 2011.

Important Instructions
Combined merit list will be prepared and eligible candidates will be offered Programme/Campus based on the availability of seat, candidates merit rank, choice.
Changing of branch and campus is generally not permitted after the admission granted to particular branch/campus.
Please see the important dates and preserve it as a guide. All announcements from the institute will be through its web site: www.nmims.edu and no individual communication will be sent to the candidates.

Eligibility criteria for admission
Programme : B.Tech. and Dual Degree B.Tech+ MBA (Tech.)
Eligibility Criteria: The candidate must have passed 10 + 2 orequivalent exam with science or science vocational and obtained minimum 50% marks in PCM and aggregate. Those awaiting their 10+2 exam result this year may also apply*.
*Note: Candidates who have passed the 10+2 exam by doing a part-time course or through distance learning/correspondence/externally/open school are not eligible to apply for the courses

All eligible candidates who are registered successfully will be called for the test.The NMAT (T) 2011 will be conducted at following centers (Cities).

Selection Process
All eligible candidates who wish to apply for admission to the MBA (Tech.) & B.Tech Programme will be required to appear for a Written Test to be conducted at various locations in India.
Candidates with valid SAT score can also apply.
Merit list will be prepared on the basis of the performance of the candidate in written test (weightage may be given to performance in 10th & 12th exam).Candidates will be called for counseling session based on the merit list. In the counseling session candidates will be given admission to various disciplines as per their merit, choice and availability of discipline as per eligibility criteria.
Merit Tie: Determination of merit in case of tie.
If two or more candidates secure equal number of marks in NMAT (T) 2011, their relative merit will be decided as per following order:
(a) Candidate securing higher marks in the subject of mathematics
(b) Candidate securing higher aggregate marks in HSC (as per details given in online registration).
(c) Candidate passing the SSC (std. X) examination with higher aggregate marks out of 750.
Structure of the Test –NMAT (T) 2011
The NMAT (T) 2011 for B. Tech. & MBA (Tech) Programmes would be an objective type multiple-choice test. (There will be no descriptive type of questions).

For every question with the Correct/best answer you will get One Point/Score, and a Zero for every omitted question, and 0.25 point would be deducted for every question with a Wrong answer or more than one answer. Therefore, in your own interest, if you find a question too difficult or you do not know the answer, you should omit the same and not mark any answer randomly or by simply guessing or mark more than one answer. In case, you can narrow down the correct/best answer to 2 or 3 choices from given ones, you may take the risk and mark the answer. It is improbable to improve your test performance or score more by simply guessing or by random marking; in fact, you may lose. Therefore, avoid answering questions simply by guessing or marking answers randomly.
Refund Rules: The Schedule of refund of fees will be as follows:Till the date of commencement of the Programme Rs.1000/- will be deducted as a administrative charges.
After the commencement of Programme but before the close of the admission Rs.1000 + Proportionate fees i.e. one tenth of the fees for every completed month or part thereof, if the seat vacated by the candidate is filled. If the seat remains vacant /unfilled no fees will be refunded.
Cancellation after the official closure of admission Cancellation made after the official closing of admission no fees will be refunded.
