IIM Trichy Admission Policy PGP 2011-13


IIM Tiruchirapalli, which will be carrying its operations under the aegis of IIM Bangalore has released its admission criteria for admission to its first batch of PGP 2011-13. The institute has also released the GD/PI short list of candidates for admission to its first batch on IIM Bangalore’s website. Candidates can check their GD/PI venue details by entering their CAT registration number and date of birth. The GD/PI process of IIM Trichy is scheduled from February last week till April 10.

The admission policy of IIM Trichy would be a three step process. After short listing candidates meeting minimum cut-off marks criteria in CAT 2010, candidates with minimum cut-off marks in X, XII and Under Graduate are considered for further processing.

Separate weights are assigned to X (8.0), XII (7.0) and UG (5.0) academic performance of a candidate. The weights are distributed over intervals of marks such that higher intervals get higher weight, with the exception that UG marks at and above the following category-wise level get a uniform highest weight: General 85%, OBC 85%, SC 80%, ST 80% and PWD/DAP 80%. Based on differences in the average graduation marks of different subject streams, an additional weight of 5.0 is assigned to candidates in UG streams of arts, humanities, commerce, management and social sciences.

Candidates with 12 months work experience will be assigned a weight of 10.0, those having a work experience of 36-47 months will get the highest weight. However, candidates with work experience of 72 months or above will not be considered for any weight. The remaining weight of 65 will be assigned to CAT score will following split—50 for total score, 10 for Verbal, 5 for Quant. and a zero for DI.


Arriving at a category-wise weighted computed index for each candidate, those having minimum cut-off index for each category will be considered further—General 65%, OBC 60%, SC 45%, ST 30% and PWD 45%.


All candidate scoring above the cut-off index score with following CAT total percentile—General 98, OBC 90, SC 80, ST 65 and PWD 80, will be called for PA process. From among the candidates meeting this criterion, a shortlist of top X, based on the index score rank order will be called in each category for the PA process.
