NIT Agartala(Admission to Ph.D Programmes)

             
                               EDUCATIONAL NOTIFICATION                                                                         Admission to Ph.D Programmes  
                                 (January – June, 2011 Session) 

  Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D programmes in Engineering, Science and Humanities Departments.
The details are available in www.nitagartala.in. Application forms may be
downloaded from  web site. The last date for submission of application forms
complete in all respect along with application fee (DD) of Rs. 500/- or Rs.300/-  as the case may be to the office of the Dean (AA) is 10th January, 2011.


Minimum Qualification for admission to Ph.D programme:-
Candidates for admission for Ph.D programme in Engineering Departments must
satisfy one of the following criteria:-

i) Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area
with a minimum CPI of 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent (60% of marks)

ii) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Technology with an excellent academic
record and with a CPI of at least 8.0 out of 10 or equivalent (80% of marks)

Candidates for admission for Ph.D programme in Science Department must satisfy the following criteria:-

i) Candidates for admission to Ph.D programme in Science Departments must have
a Master’s Degree in the relevant Discipline with a First class or a minimum of 60% of
marks in the subject or equivalent.
Candidates for admission for Ph.D programme in Humanities & Social Scince
Department must satisfy one of the following criteria:-


i) Candidates for admission to the Ph.D programme in Humanities and Social
Science (Economics Department must have a master’s degree with a minimum of 55%
marks or equivalent. Candidates having MBA degree are also eligible for perusing Ph.D programme under Humanities and Social Science with a minimum CPI of 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent (60% marks).

Selection Procedure:- 
  On receipt of applications the candidates fulfilling eligibility conditions are called for interview (Written / Oral) by the Doctoral Committee of the Institute. Selection is made on the basis of performance of the candidates in the interview and availability of seats.

Scholarship Facility:- 
  Regular full-time scholars may be awarded scholarship / Assistantship as per MHRD / Institute guidelines.

Reservation:- 
Candidates will be admitted strictly following the 200 point roster policy as applicable to NIT, Agartala as per Govt. of India norm.


Application form may be downloaded from the institute web-site www.nitagartala.in w.e.f 27/12/2010. Completed application form along with a demand draft of Rs. 500/- (Five hundred) for OP & OBC candidates and that of Rs. 300/- for Sc & ST candidates to be drawn in favour of
Registrar, NIT Agartala, Payable at SBI, NIT, Agartala branch (Code – 11491) must reach the office of the Dean, Academic NIT Agartala latest by 10th January,2011.

All supporting documents as per application forms should also be enclosed with the filled in application forms.
No application will be entertained without demand draft required as application fee and the candidates will not be called for interview / written test.
