Criteria for GD/PI shortlisting for PGDM & PGDCM for Academic Year 2010-11
PGDM:
Candidates satisfying the minimum section-wise and overall CAT scores, as given in the following table, have been shortlisted for GD/PI.

1. A candidate has to score at least 30, 30 and 15 in Section - 1 (Quantitative), Section - 2 (Logic & Data Interpretation) and Section - 3 (Verbal),
respectively, to be considered for shortlisting for GD/PI.
2. Among the candidates considered for shortlisting, those whose sectional scores are equal to or more than the corresponding sectional cut-off
scores, as mentioned in the table above, pass on to the next step.
3. From among the eligible candidates, those who achieve an aggregate CAT score equal to or more than the total cut-off score in the
corresponding category, as mentioned in the table above, are shortlisted for GD/PI.

PGDM and PGDCM for the forthcoming batch 2010-12.

For work experience, maximum 6 marks have been awarded depending on the length of
service as on 31 January, 2010. Candidates having 0-11 months of work experience have
received 0 marks. Candidates having 12 months of experience have received 0.24 marks.
Candidates having 13-36 months of experience have received 0.24 marks for every
additional month of experience, i.e. a candidate having x (13 ≤ x ≤ 36) months of
experience has received 0.24+(x-12)*0.24 marks. Candidates having more than 36
months of experience have received 6 marks.

Selection Procedure

The various steps in selection for admission at BIMTECH include:

STEP I

Procurement of Form

Application form (common for all the programmes) can be acquired from September 30, 2010 onwards from-

a) Scratch Card can be purchased from the Admission office of the Institute by paying Rs. 1700/- in cash.
b) Scratch Card can be purchased from various centres of IMS, T.I.M.E, Bulls Eye, Suvidha Educational Academy across India .
c) Scratch Card can be purchased from various branches of Axis Bank on payment of Rs. 1700/-
d) Applying online on the website of the Institute followed by paying Rs. 1750/- through Credit Card.

STEP II

Filling up the Application Form

Candidates can apply online at www.bimtech.ac.in. Online application form can be filled by using credit card payment mode or by using 16 digit PIN number given on the Scratch Card.

Selection Criteria

Call for GD/PI:
There is no cut-off pre-defined, but the merit is prepared on the basis of CAT/MAT percentile for calling candidates for GD and Interview in a ratio of 1:10 for total number of seats in all the programmes after all the applications have been received by closing dates.

Final Selection: -
The merit is prepared on the basis of Weightages given below:
PI - 30%
GD - 20%
CAT percentile-  10%
Graduation %-  12%
10+2/Higher Secondary %-  10%
Misc.*-  18%


*Suitable weightages for Work Experience, Academic & Regional background, Professional Qualification, Institution of Excellence etc. are also given.

NOTE: Applying for the admission does not ensure that candidate will be called for GD / PI process or get admission. The discretion of the admission committee of the Institute will be final in all such matters.

GD/ PI would be conducted at Ahemdabad, Bangalore, Bhuvneshwar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Pune, and Greater Noida in the month of February 2011 (tentative). The Institute reserves the right to cancel any of the above outstation centres.

Declaration of Final Selection List:
Final Selection List would be declared around March 8, 2011 (tentative)

Fee Submission:
Time of fifteen days would be given to the selected candidates from the day of declaration of final selection list to submit first installment.

Beginning of session
Academic session of all the programmes starts around June 1 (tentative) every year.

ATMA - AIMS Test for Management Admissions

The members of Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) have for long felt the need for a high quality test, the scores of which can be used in their admission process, as a reliable predictor of academic performance in post-graduate management programmes. In response to this need, AIMS offers the AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA), as a credible, comprehensive and single-window test for admissions to different postgraduate management programmes. The administration and scoring is professionally done, and the results obtained are item-analysed by a faculty team to ensure discriminating validity of the items, and of the test as a whole. This has been an ongoing process over the last six years, so that it can be claimed that the ATMA scores supplied are highly dependable indicators of the candidate’s suitability for management education and career. The candidates will be supplied with the percentile scores in comprehension, verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, analysing and synthesizing ability.

How to apply online for taking ATMA?
The admission kit contains the following:
Bulletin with information about ATMA.
An adhesive sticker with Personal ID code affixed inside of the Bulletin front cover.
When you purchase ATMA admission kit, you will be given a receipt by the sales centre. The same is required to be submitted to the invigilator at the time of examination along with the admit card.
Inside the admission kit, there will be self adhesive sticker with Personal ID code affixed inside of the Bulletin front cover. For applying online, candidates should log on to ATMA website www.atma-aims.org. Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a test which evaluates an individual’s proficiency in English Language which includes all the four aspects: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. TOEFL is a worldwide recognized test used by majority of the universities and institutes throughout the world where English is the primarily teaching language. For most of these universities an appropriate score in TOEFL is compulsory as one of the requirement for admission.


The exam is designed to provide a green light for the final admission in most of the foreign Universities. This elite foreign based exams enables the candidates to attain the final admission as most of the Universities in foreign except the TOEFEL certificate, specifically those in which the primary language in which the teaching is conducted in English. The exam therefore is conducted on a worldwide basis and enables candidates to undertake admission in his her favorite foreign based Universities. The score for the exam can be extensively used for a window of two years as the score is valid within that duration. IGNOU OPENMAT ADMISSIONS 2010-2011

MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMES

IGNOU invites application for the following Degree/ Diploma Programme in Management:

Master of Business Administration (MBA), or
Diploma in Management (DIM), or
Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDIM), or
Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM), or
Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM), or
Post-Graduate Diploma in Operations Management (PGDOM), or
Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management (PGDMM).

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The MBA Programme consists of 21 courses in all. These comprise of :

l All the courses in PGDIM (Eleven Courses) i.e. MS-1 to MS-11
l Five courses from any one of the specialisation streams
l Compulsory Courses (MS-91, MS-95) and one elective course (MS-92/93/94/96/97)
l Project Course (MS-100) equivalent to 2 courses.











All the above programmes have multi-media design, using technology aided delivery systems. These are offered through countrywide network of study centres. The University will be admitting the students for the above degree/diplomas in Management starting from July 2009 through an entrance test 'OPENMAT' to be held as per schedule given below.
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION TO MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMES

The following eligibility criteria has been approved by the Academic Council at its 46th meeting held on 13.01.2009 (AC 46.39.3).

i) Graduation in any discipline with 50% marks for General Category and 45% marks for reserved category;

OR

Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of supervisory/managerial/professional experience.

ii) Clearance of OPENMAT conducted by IGNOU. The candidates who have successfully cleared the entrance test for admission into Management Programme conducted by institutions like CAT, MAT and State level tests need not appear in OPENMAT.

FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS
Foreign students residing in India are eligible to seek admission in IGNOU programmes who have valid student visa for the minimum duration of the programme. Such students are required to remit the fee at par with foreign students (fee structure of foreign students could be downloaded from the website www.ignou.ac.in). Admission of foreign students residing in India will be processed by the International Division of the University after ensuring their antecedents from the Ministry of External Affairs/Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Programmes with fixed number of seats are not opened for foreign students.
ADMISSION TO MBA (MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME) FROM DIM
AND PGSDM


Those who are Non-graduates and who have successfully completed DIM would be allowed to get admission
into Management Programme (MBA), without re-appearing in Entrance Test (OPENMAT), after completing
Bachelor’s degree, if they so desire. In such a case they should send the re-registration form alongwith the
marksheet and copy of the Bachelor’s Degree to the concerned Regional Director for getting admission to MBA, within the dates prescribed by the university for re-registration. Normally the dates are 1st February to 31st March and 1st August to 1st October for respective semesters.

The students qualifying any of PG Specialisation Diplomas, if desirous of pursuing MBA, may do so by registering for other courses. However those who have done PG Specialisation Diplomas under Direct Entry stream prior to 1997 will have to qualify OPENMAT test and apply for credit transfer by paying requisite fee on prescribed form to the Registrar (SR&E), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068 as per credit transfer rules.

ENTRANCE TEST (OPENMAT XXVI, OPENMAT XXVII and IGNOU OPENMAT XXVIII)

Admission to Managem ent Programmes of IGNOU is done through OPENMAT Entrance Examinations,
held twice a year.

For appearing in the entrance test (OPENMAT) a student has to fill up APPLICATION FORM FOR OPENMAT
ENTRANCE TEST– Form 1 which is provided separately in an envelope alongwith this STUDENT HANDBOOK
AND PROSPECTUS. Please see the instructions for filling up the ENTRANCE TEST Form at pages 133.

You need to send the form in the same envelope attached in the Prospectus by Registered/Speed Post so as to reach on or before the last date printed on the application form. No other document is required to be submitted alongwith this form. The Entrance Test will be held on the following dates:

Eligibility
PGPM/PGP-HR/PGP-IM: Minimum of 3-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities / AICTE. Candidates completing all requirements, for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree by 30 June 2011 can also apply subject to furnishing evidence to that effect latest by 1 October 2011.

NMP (EPGPM): Minimum of 3-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/ AICTE and minimum 5 years of post qualification executive (Class I or Officer Grade) work experience.

Admission Procedure
• MDI uses CAT for short listing candidates for all the above programmes.
• Candidate has to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) to be conducted by the IIMs during 27 October to 24 November 2010. The last date for obtaining CAT Voucher is 27 September, 2010.
• Foreign/NRI/PIO applicants can apply by submitting valid GMAT scores (taken not later than October 2010). NRI applicants residing in India during July-December 2010 will have to appear in CAT. GOI Rules will be followed related to admission of these categories of candidates.
• Final selection process will consider performance in the CAT / GMAT and subsequent Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
• Candidate must apply separately for NMP (EPGPM).
• IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.
