Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Recruitment for Various Posts 2012

The Railway Recruitment Board, Bhubaneswar conducts various examinations for the Indian Railways every year for Group ‘C' Posts for Indian Railways and Recruit persons of merit in a fair and transparent manner. It invites application from eligible candidates for recruitment to the posts mentioned below.

Eligibility Criteria for recruitment in Railway Recruitment Board
Educational Qualification
  • Commercial Apprentice and Traffic Apprentice: Degree from recognized University or its equivalent. Diploma in Rail Transport and Management from the Institute of Rail Transport will be an additional desirable qualification.
  • ECRC and Goods Guard: Degree from recognized University or its equivalent.
  • Jr. Accounts Assistant cum Typist: Degree from recognized University or its equivalent. Preference being given to persons with I & II Divisions, Honours & Master Degree. Typing proficiency in English/Hindi on Computer/ Typewriter is essential.
  • Sr. Clerk cum Typist: Degree from recognized University or its equivalent. Typing proficiency in English/ Hindi on Computer/ Typewriter is essential.
  • Assistant Station Master and Traffic Assistant: Degree from recognized University or equivalent. Diploma in Rail Transport & Management, Transport Economics, Multimodal Transport (Containerization) awarded by Institute of Rail Transport, Rail Bhawan, New Delhi will be additional desirable qualification.
Age Limit (as on 1 July 2012): Minimum 18 years; Maximum 33 years (for all posts)

Selection Procedure for recruitment in Railway Recruitment Board: The selection is made strictly as per merit. There will be a common Preliminary Examination for all the notified categories. Those who qualify for the Main (second stage) Exams will have the option to appear in the Main (second stage) Examinations.
In addition qualifying Skill Test (Typing Test) will also be conducted for the post of Jr. Accounts Assistant cum Typist/ Sr. Clerk Cum Typist. Aptitude test will also be conducted for the post of Assistant Station Master and Traffic Assistant. Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of the original documents according to merit (in case of ASM & Traffic Assistant, the merit will be drawn only for the candidates qualifying in the aptitude test, with 70% weightage being given to the marks obtained in the Main (second stage) Examination & 30 % weightage being given to the marks obtained in the aptitude test), availability of vacancies and reservation rules.
There shall be negative marking in written examinations and marks shall be deducted for each wrong answer at1/3 of the allotted marks for each question.
The standard of questions for the written examinations will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or technical qualifications prescribed for the posts. The Questions will be of objective type with multiple answers and likely to include questions pertaining to General Awareness, Arithmetic, General Intelligence and reasoning. The question paper will be in English, Hindi, Urdu and regional languages and the duration of the examination will be 90 minutes with approximately 100 to 120 questions.
The appointment of selected candidates is subject to his/ her passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificate and verification of antecedent/character of the candidate.

How to Apply for recruitment in Railway Recruitment Board: Interested Candidates may Apply Online, wherever such facility is provided by respective RRB. For this, they should visit the website of the RRB concerned and fill up their detailed Bio-data in the Application Form and upload the applicable scanned documents on the website.

Examination Fee: Rs 60 for General and OBC male candidates (No fee will be charged from candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ Women/ PWD/ Ex-Servicemen/ Minorities/ Economically backward classes). The fee needs to be paid in favour of IPOs/ DDs to be drawn in favour of Assistant Secretary, Railway Recruitment Board, Regional office selected payable at Regional office selected.

Offline Application: Application in the prescribed format should be send to the Assistant Secretary/ Member Secretary of the concerned RRB where candidate want to apply. The envelope containing the application should be clearly super-scribed "Application for the Post/s of ___________Category No./s ________Centralised Employment Notice No. 03/2012 of RRB/ , Community (SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Ex-SM)"
