NIT MCA Common Entrance Test 2011


Introduction

National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are premier technical institutions of national repute, fully funded by Government of India. The Curricula and Syllabi of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme offered by NITs are designed considering the need of different IT Firms in India and abroad which has a high job potential in IT Sector. NIMCET is a national level entrance test conducted by NITs for admission to their MCA programme. The admission to first year of MCA prgoramme, offered by NIT Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal, for the year 2011-12 will be based on the rank obtained in NIMCET2011 ONLY. Candidate’s score and rank based on NIMCET2011 entrance examination is valid for admission to MCA course of participating NIT’s for 2011-2012 session only.NIMCET 2011 examination is scheduled on 15th May 2011 from 10.00 A.M to 12.00 noon at the various test centers.

ELIGIBILITY
Indian Nationals securing 60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST) in each of the examinations of
12th level with Mathematics and
Bachelor’s Degree of full time 3 year duration from a recognized University with any one of the following as one of the subjects

Business Statistics
Computational Mathematics
Elementary Mathematics

Those who have done Bridge Course in Mathematics are also eligible to apply. The percentages of marks for (i) and (ii) given above are to be calculated on the basis of method used by respective Board / University.Students completing degree from Open Universities are also eligible to apply provided their course is approved by UGC/AICTE / Distance Education Council (DEC) of Govt. of India.The candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply for NIMCET2011. Such candidates shall have to furnish the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET2011 preferably at the time of Counseling/Admission but not later than 31st August, 2011, failing which, their admission may be cancelled by the respective NITs.State quota is applicable only for the state of Tamil Nadu .Candidate passed / appeared for qualifying exam from Tamil Nadu will be eligible for Tamil Nadu State Quota of NIT – Trichurapalli. For all other NIT’s only all India quota is applicable.

MODE OF EXAMINATION

NIMCET2011 examination will be of two hours and question paper will consist of 120 multiple choice questions with four choices for each question in Mathematics, Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning, Computer Awareness and General English. Each correctly answered question will carry FOUR marks and each wrongly answered question will lead to NEGATIVE ONE mark. The candidates have to mark the responses in the OMR sheets at the time of examination. Candidates have to bring their own HB pencil, eraser and black ball point pen. Calculators, mobile phones or any other electronic gadget are not allowed in the examination hall.

WEB ENABLED ON-LINE APPLICATION FORM                                              Eligible candidates are required to fill in web enabled on-line application form from any place of their convenience. Candidates are required to create user login Id and password for themselves and should use the same as and when required. Candidates are not permitted to create multiple Ids’ in any case. If there is any problem in login creation then candidate are required to contact Secretary NIMCET 2011.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Candidates are required to read the instructions carefully before filling the online application form . They are also required to take a print out of the online filled in online application form and send it by speed post along with copies of mark sheets of Matriculation, High School and Graduation and a demand draft of Rs. 1500/- for open /OBC and Rs.750/- for SC/ST candidates in favor of “NIMCET2011” payable at SBI, MANIT Branch Bhopal at the following address so as to reach on or before Monday, April 11, 2011.

PROCESSING FEEThe fee for entrance examination and counseling is Rs.1500 /- for OPEN/OBC and Rs. 750/- for SC/ST candidates. Candidates will have to submit a demand draft of appropriate amount, depending up on their category, in favor of “NIMCET2011”, payable at Bhopal. Candidates are required to write their name, address and mobile/phone number at the back side of the demand draft.

SCORE CARD AND VALIDITY OF NIMCET2011                                            The list of selected candidates for online counseling on the basis of NIMCET2011 rank will be published on www.nimcet2011nitb.in. Score card of all eligible candidates will be made available on http://www.nimcet2011nitb.in/ . Candidate is required to download their score card using their login Id from the NIMCET 2011 website. No separate Score Card will be sent to the candidates. Candidate’s score and rank based on NIMCET2011 is valid for admission to MCA course to the Participating Institutes for 2011-2012 session only.

Summer Internship Program - 2011( Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science,Bangalore)


About

Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Science offers summer internship for bright and motivated second year or third year B.E./B.Tech(Civil Engineering) students. The program aims at motivating and promoting the culture of research at the undergraduate level in the Civil Engineering discipline. This programme is sponsored by the University Grant Commission, Govt. of India.The selected student is expected to work for a minimum duration of six weeks and programme could extend up to about twelve weeks depending on the individual progress and circumstances.The trainees are expected to avail the internship preferably during May-July 2011 and specific requests for any changes to suit academic calenders would be considered on case by case basis.

Eligibility and Selection criteria
Undergraduate Students in second or third year B.E./B.Tech(Civil Engineering) are eligible to apply.
Selection will be based on the scholastic record of the student in 10th and 12th classes, percentage (or TGPA) obtained so far in B.E./ B.Tech and a brief research proposal.

Stipend, Travel and Accommodation

Stipend of Rs.3000 per month on prorata basis and a contingency up to Rs.1000 for academic expenses will be paid to selected students after successful completion of assigned work. No travel and daily allowances are admissible in this program. Presently we are not in a position to arrange for accommodation for the trainees.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants possessing a minimum of second class in the following are eligible to apply:

Bachelor’s or Master's degree in an appropriate field of Engineering/Technology/Architecture/ Medicine/ Agriculture/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Sciences; or Master’s degree in Science in an appropriate field including Biotechnology, or Master’s in Economics, Geography, Social Work, Psychology, Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science/ Application as applicable to the respective departments.

Qualifying in one of the following appropriate Tests (with validity as on 1st of August 2011) is mandatory for the candidates applying for Ph D in Science Faculty and M Sc(Engg): CSIR-UGC NET for JRF; or UGC-NET for JRF; or DBT JRF; or ICMR JRF; or JEST 2011; or NBHM 2011; or IISc Entrance Test 2011; or GATE 2010/2011. Qualifying in these tests is not mandatory but desirable for candidates who possess a Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ M Sc(Engg)/MS or MBA(post BE/B Tech) wish to apply for the departments in the Engineering Faculty.


IISc Entrance Test is conducted in Atmospheric Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Ecological Sciences, Mathematics, Management Studies, and Materials Science subjects.

Candidates with BE / B Tech or equivalent degree who may not have qualified in any of the above mentioned National Entrance Tests but possess an excellent academic record right from 10th Standard onwards may be considered for admission to a limited number of seats in Ph D programme in Engineering Faculty. The short listing for interview of such candidates will be based on their academic performance in 10th , 12th and the qualifying degree at the current stage.


(ii) COURSE PROGRAMMES [ME/ M Tech/M Des/M.Mgt]

(a) Master of Engineering (ME) in Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Microelectronics, Signal Processing, Systems Science & Automation, and Telecommunication Engineering.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants possessing a minimum of second class in Bachelor's degree in appropriate field of Engineering/ Technology or equivalent degree with valid GATE score are eligible to apply.

Selection is based on valid GATE score only.

(b) Master of Technology (M Tech) in Electronics Design & Technology(ED), Computational Science (CP), Climate Science(CL), Transportation & Infrastructure Engineering(TI) and Instrumentation(IN).

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants possessing a minimum of second class in the following qualifying degree with valid GATE score are eligible to apply:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of Engineering/Technology; or Master’s degree in Science, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Instrumentation, Electronics or Master’s in Computer Application as applicable to the respective departments.

Selection for (ED), (CP) , (CL) and (CL) is based on an aptitude test and interview subsequent to short-listing based on valid GATE score and for (IN) based on valid GATE score only.

(c) Master of Design (M Des) in Product Design & Engineering


ELIGIBILITY

Applicants possessing a minimum of second class in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Design / Architecture with valid GATE/CEED scores are eligible to apply.

Selection is based on a Design Aptitude Test and interview subsequent to short-listing based on valid GATE / CEED scores.

(d) Master of Management (M.Mgt)

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants possessing a minimum of first class in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent degree with valid GATE/JMET scores are eligible to apply.

Selection is based on a group discussion and interview subsequent to short-listing based on valid GATE / JMET scores.


(iii) INTEGRATED Ph D PROGRAMMES

in (1) Biological Sciences(BS), (2) Chemical Sciences(CS), (3) Physical Sciences (PS) and (4) Mathematical Sciences(MS)

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants possessing a minimum of first class in Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, (including Pharmaceutical, Veterinary Sciences and Agricultural Sciences), Mathematical Sciences, or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology as applicable to respective disciplines.

All the candidates should ualify in IISc Entrance Test scheduled for 24th April 2011. The short-listing of candidates for interview is based on performance in the IISc Entrance Test.


(iv) EXTERNAL REGISTRATION PROGRAMMES (Ph D only)

It is a Research programme for working professionals from (1) R&D Organizations/Industries and (2) for Faculty members from Engineering, Agricultural, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary, Medical Colleges/ Universities, recognized by the appropriate government agencies. The candidates must be officially sponsored by their employing organization.

Ph D in Science: All the Science departments as indicated in (i) except High Energy Physics and Solid State & Structural Chemistry.

Ph D in Engineering: All the Engineering departments as indicated in (i).

ELIGIBILITY

• Qualifications remain the same as for the regular candidates. Further, the candidates should have two years of continuous service in a permanent position in the present organisation • Age: NOT higher than 40 years as on 01.04.2011.

Desirable: Qualifying in one of the tests;IISc Entrance Test,CSIR-UGC NET for JRF,UGC-NET for JRF, DBT JRF,ICMR JRF, GATE, NBHM, etc.

Selection will be based on candidate’s performance in the interview to be conducted at IISc.

(v) Reservation for OBC/SC/ST/Physically-Handicapped(PH) and Kashmiri-Migrant(KM) candidates: As per the Government of India regulations. Grade/Class of qualifying examination is relaxed to a “pass class” for SC/ST candidates.



(vi) Scholarships: All the regular students who join the Institute are eligible for IISc scholarship / fellowship from CSIR/ UGC/ ICMR/ MHRD/ AICTE/ NBHM/ as the case may be. Scholarships from many Indian and multinational agencies and business houses are also available for meritorious students.

(vii) HOW TO APPLY

(a) Application Forms for Research, Course and Integrated Ph D programmes

may be obtained by any of the following three methods:

(1) Against a cash payment of Rs.700/- from select CANARA BANK Branches$ .

(2) By sending a written request for application form with 2 address slips (stickers), and a demand draft (Rs.700/- for general/OBC categories, Rs.350/- for SC/ST/PH categories, along with copy of an appropriate certificate) to the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Admissions Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore 560 012. The DD must be drawn in favour of “Registrar, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore”.

(3) Online application – Online submission of application may be made by accessing the IISc website www.iisc.ernet.in/admissions w.e.f. 07.02.2011. Online application fee is Rs.600/- for general/OBC categories and Rs.300/- for SC/ST/PH categories. A printed copy of the online application should also be posted as detailed below.

For External Registration Programmes - Candidates should write to the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Admissions Unit, IISc, Bangalore - 560 012, enclosing a DD for Rs.1500/- drawn in favour of “Registrar, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore”.

If you are applying for admission to IISc

Thank you for your interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or M.Sc.(Engg) degree programme at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). IISc is happy to announce that fellowships will be awarded to the most promising students who are selected for admission to one of these programmes. Further details are given below.

Basic eligibility criteria

Only those who are NOT citizens of India are eligible to apply for admission through this mechanism. Indian citizens i.e. those holding an Indian passport (whether residing in India or abroad) need to apply through the the regular admission process.

Foreign students are eligible to apply only for a Ph.D. programme or an M.Sc.(Engg) programme. They are NOT eligible to apply for an integrated Ph.D. programme, ME/MTech programme, the proposed undergraduate programme etc.

Eligibility Criteria for Individual Programmes
For Ph.D. programme: A Masters degree or a four-year undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline. Departments offering a Ph.D. programme and their respective eligibility criteria are listed in this page.

For M.Sc.(Engineering) programme: A four-year undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline. Departments offering a M.Sc.(Engg.) programme and their respective eligibility criteria are listed in this page.

Application Processing
After ensuring completeness of your application form, International Relations Cell (IRC) will forward it to the appropriate Departments/Centres.

If a Department shortlists you, a Departmental Committee will interview you using the web or the telephone.

If you are selected for a programme at the IISc, IRC will mail admission offer letters by end of April, 2011.

You are required to join the Institute by August 1, 2011 after completing all the necessary formalities.

Financial Support
If you are selected, you will be offered hostel accommodation and a fellowship by IISc. The fellowship amount will be equal to that offered to Indian students. This fellowship is usually adequate to pay tuition fees, hostel and mess fees and cover your living expenses.

These programmes, conducted in summer for 6-8 weeks (~ mid May to July), are aimed at infusing creativity and scientific temper into undergraduates, and involve lectures, laboratory projects and research work. Selected students are expected to work at the Centre for three consecutive summers, and will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 6000 per month during their period of stay at the Centre. Upon successful completion of the programme, the students will receive a Diploma in Chemistry or Biology from the Centre. Those who complete the POCE/POBE programme with outstanding performance will be eligible for admission to the MS-PhD programme in the Centre subject to satisfactory performance in the interview.

The Program

This fulltime residential program spans one and a half year. The first year is offered at SSN School of Advanced Software Engineering (SSN SASE) in Chennai. Experienced faculty of the SSN SASE and practicing professionals conduct the courses using Carnegie Mellon Courseware.

Selection Procedure
All the applications will be evaluated based on academic performance, TOEFL and GRE scores, recommendation letters, critical essay, work experience, etc.

Eligibility
The Programme is targeted at individuals with high potential for success in business and industry. Such individuals must have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or equivalent (under 10+2+3 system) with at least 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from a University recognized by Association of Indian Universities / AICTE.

The rank of the student in t he admission merit list is obtained by giving weights of 60%,10%, 10% and 20% to the CAT/MAT/XAT/ATMA, past academic achievements and work experience, GD and Personal Interview scores respectively. Successful candidates will be informed of their final selection by mail. The selected candidates must pay their first installment of fees within the stipulated time mentioned in the admission offer letter.



K. C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post-Graduate Studies Abroad


The K C Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies Abroad is an interest free loan scholarship which is awarded to deserving graduates interested in pursuing their post graduate studies overseas. This scholarship has been ongoing since 1956. Announcement of the scholarship is done at the month of January in leading newspapers throughout India. Currently the maximum amount awarded per scholarship is Rs. 95,000/. From last year, KCMET has also announced the KC Mahindra Fellows Fund where the 3 most deserving candidates selected for the abovementioned scholarship are awarded an interest free loan scholarship ranging from Rs 5 to Rs 8 lacs, based on merit and need.

To be eligible, the candidate is required to possess a First Class degree or equivalent diploma of the same standard from a recognized university. The candidate must have secured admission or at least have applied for admission to a reputable university or institution abroad at the time of submission of the application form. The application form can be collected from our office at the end of January. Shortlisted students are called for the final interviews which are held in July. At the time of the interview you should have secured admission into the institute.

Procedures for VEE 2011 Admission
Selection of candidates will be based on the performance of candidates in the VEE 2011, and their marks in the qualifying examination.
The last date for receipt of completed application form for admission, enclosed along with the entrance examination application kit, at the University office is the tenth day from the date of publication of the results of the qualifying examinations for UG Courses (Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Examinations) and 15 days after the publication of the results of under graduate course examinations for PG Courses. The dates will be published in National dailies.
Application forms will be received even after the stipulated last date. Such applications will be registered as "Late Applications" and will be considered only after all the applications received in time have been exhausted.

Great Lakes' PGPM dates extended...


Eligibility Criteria - Admissions PGPM 2011

All applicants are required to appear for GMAT/CAT*/XAT before applying to Great Lakes Institute of Management.
For PGPM 2011, Great Lakes Institute of Management will accept CAT* scores of the year 2009 and 2010 or GMAT scores taken after Jan 1, 2008 or XAT scores of the year 2011.
All applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised institution.
A minimum work experience of two years is highly desirable
Outstanding graduates with less than two years' experience would be considered on a case-to-case basis.
International students can apply with their GMAT scores.
*Great Lakes uses CAT scores only for screening applications for admissions and IIMs have no role in the conduct of Great Lakes academic programs.

ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR IN UPSEE 2011 (Details of eligibility are available in Information Brochure)
For admission to first year of B.Tech/B.Tech(Ag.Engg.)/B.Pharma/BHMCT/BFAD candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U.P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board/University as given in Information Brochure of UPSEE - 2011. The candidate must have clearly passed with 40% marks for General & OBC and 35% for SC/ST candidates in aggregate. The candidate is essentially required to pass in each subject of the subject groups mentioned in the information brochure UPSEE-2011 without grace marks .
For admission to first year of B.Arch., a candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U.P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board/ University; securing minimum 50% marks for General/OBC and 45% for SC/ST candidates in aggregate. The candidate is essentially required to pass in each subject of the compulsory and optional subjects mentioned in the Information Brochure of UPSEE–2011 without grace marks . A candidate passing three year Diploma in Architecture (10+3) recognized by Central /State Govt., securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate is also eligible for admission to first year of B.Arch. only. The candidate will have to appear in the entrance examination UPSEE-2011 for first year of B.Arch.
(Paper-4) as mentioned above.
For admission to first year of MBA course, candidate must have passed Bachelor degree course of minimum three years duration from any recognized University in India. The candidate must have clearly passed without grace marks with an aggregate of 40% marks for General & OBC and 35% for SC/ST candidates.
For admission to first year of MCA, candidate must have passed Bachelor degree course of minimum three years duration from any recognized University with Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level or at Bachelor Degree level. The candidate must have clearly passed without grace marks with an aggregate of 40% marks for General & OBC and 35% for SC/ST Candidates.
For admission to second year (lateral entry) of B.Tech., the candidate must have passed three years Diploma in engineering course; securing; minimum 60% marks in aggregate or three years B.Sc. Degree with mathematics as one subject; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate as per details provided in the Brochure.
For admission to second year (lateral entry) of B.Pharma., the candidate must have passed Diploma in Pharmacy course; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate.
The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear in State Entrance Examination-2011 subject to the condition that they must fulfill the eligibility criteria at the time of verification of documents.
The details of admission for NRI and Kashmiri migrants will be published later, in the month of May, 2011 according to the norms to be laid down by the Government of U.P/AICTE. Such candidates need not appear in UPSEE-2011.
UPSEE-2011 admission on test is open to the candidates who have passed the qualifying the examination from any Institution located in U.P. or whose parents (Father or Mother) are domiciles of U.P. and they have passed the qualifying exam from Institutions/College located outside of U.P.
However State Govt. has permitted 10% of total sanctioned seats available in affiliated Private Institutions of both the Universities to be filled through AIEEE 2011 on All India Merit and further 10% seats on U.P. State Merit of AIEEE-2011 from U.P. domicile students. The provisions of U.P. Reservations Act shall be applicable on these 10% seats of U.P. domicile candidates.

TISS 2010- 2011 Results Declared


TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences) has declared its result of the written exam on 24th Jan, 2011.

TISS 2010 - 2011 GD/PI Dates:


The candidates who have cleared the written test will have to appear for Group Discussion and personal interviews which are scheduled from March 17th, 2011 to 23rd March, 2011 at TISS Mumbai Campus for all the programmes.

The Written test of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences was conducted on December 12, 2010 at 19 centers. The selection process at TISS Mumbai is a three stage process involving written test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Each stage is attributed with weightage. For Human Resources Management and Labour Relations written test, group discussion and personal interview stage carries 70, 30 and 70 marks respectively.

I. Scheme of the Test:-
i) The test will be of two hours duration and the medium of question paper will be

Candidates who will be writing the LSAT-India 2011 are exempted from the above-mentioned All India written test. Candidates with valid LSAT scores (on the global LSAT exam) are also exempted from the All India written test. M.Sc Course in Wildlife Science (2011-2013)


                                 ADMISSION NOTIFICATION

The M.Sc Course in Wildlife Science is a flagship course of the Institute and is widely acclaimed both nationally and internationally. The course aims to impart theoretical knowledge, analytical skills and field techniques in wildlife science. Students of high calibre and motivation are selected through a National Entrance Test (NET) and Personality Aptitude Test (PAT) in this residential course.

Applications are invited for admission to this two-year course in M.Sc Wildlife Science (affiliated to the Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat) commencing June, 2011 at this Institute.

The total intake for the course is 14 students (12 Indian candidates and 2 Foreign nationals). The break-up of seats will be as follows:

ELIGIBILITY
Bachelor of Science degree with Biological Science as a major subject - Bachelor degree holder in Veterinary, Forestry, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences are also eligible.
Minimum of 15 years of formal education (either 10+2+3 or 11+2+2)
Minimum of 55% aggregate marks in B.Sc.

Candidates appearing for final year/semester B.Sc. exam are also eligible to apply, provided they have secured a minimum of 50 % aggregate till second year and on completion of their degree will achieve a minimum of 55% aggregate. Such candidates must produce mark sheet of their graduation at the time of their Personality and Aptitude Test, failing which, their candidature will be treated as cancelled.

Foreign nationals who do not have English as their native language should provide evidence of proficiency in English (TOEFL or IELTS Score) for admission to this course. The TOEFL or IELTS score reports should not be more than two years since taking the Test to submission of the application. A minimum TOEFL Score of 213 (computer-based), 550 (paper-based), or 79 (internet-based), or a minimum of 6.0 IELTS score is required. Also, candidates with Bachelor Degree from Universities outside India should obtain certificates of equivalence from "The Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities, AIU House, 16, Comrade Indrajit Gupta Marg, New Delhi-110002" or email to administration@aiuweb.org .

AGE LIMIT

The age limit is 25 years with relaxation of 5 years for reservation candidates, and for those candidates who are working in Forest and Wildlife Departments it is 35 years as on 1st July, 2011.


SELECTION PROCESS

Eligible candidates will be required to appear for a written National Entrance Test (NET) in one of the six Centres (Bengaluru, Dehradun, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Guwahati) which is nearest to his/her permanent residence. The NET is likely to be held on 27th March 2011. The NET will be for two hours and will have objective type multiple-choice questions for 60% marks with sections on general knowledge, general science and optional subject (Life Science/Forestry/Veterinary Science/Agricultural Science). The remaining 40% marks will be essay based questions dealing with environmental issues.

Short-listed candidates will be called to take a Personality and Aptitude Test at Dehradun and final selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained in NET and Aptitude Test. The SC/ST candidates called for the NET and Aptitude test will be paid travel expenses as per rules by the shortest route. Short-listed foreign candidates will be interviewed through audio or video conferencing following which their final selection will be based. The date and time of the interview will be informed to them by email.
HOW TO APPLY

The application forms can be filled online. The last date for online application is 21st February, 2011 this is to allow the candidate to sent the required documents on or before 28th February, 2011. A recent passport size color photograph in JPEG/JPG format (max 200 KB) should be kept ready for upload at the time of online submission. The date and application number details generated on submission of the online application will be sent to the candidates via his/her email id provided and so it is instructed that the email id given is valid.

In case of difficulties in filling online application the same can be download and sent by Registered/Speed Post along with self-attested legible photocopies of educational qualification certificates and mark sheets (X, XII and Graduation), proof of age, certificate if belonging to SC/ST/OBC, recent passport size color photographs (2 Nos.) and application fee in form of a Bank Draft.

Candidates who apply online also need to send the above mentioned documents by Registered/Speed Post and indicate on the envelope the Application Number and Date of Submission generated while submitting the online application.

Candidates who have Grade Point Average (GPA) scores should provide a Certificate from their University on its equivalence in percentage.

Candidates must highlight aggregate percentage and date of birth in the attested photocopies.

The application fee for Indian Candidates is Rs. 300/- paid in the form of a bank draft in favor of Director, Wildlife Institute of India payable at Dehradun. Application fee is exempted for SC/ST candidates. Foreign nationals are required to pay an application fee of US$ 50. The amount can be transferred electronically to WII account. Applications incomplete in any aspect will be rejected without assigning any reasons thereof. Candidates working with Forest and Wildlife Departments should route their applications through proper channel. The envelope containing the application and annexures as the case should be marked on top “APPLICATION FOR M.Sc WILDLIFE SCIENCE” and sent to the Course Director, XIII M.Sc Course, Wildlife Institute of India, Chandrabani, Dehradun 248 001, Uttarakhand. The last date for receiving application is 28th February 2011. Applications received after the last date and incomplete applications would be summarily rejected.


TERMS & CONDITIONS
Director Wildlife Institute of India (WII) reserves the right to re-schedule the test and/or change the test centre at its sole discretion, without assigning any reasons thereof, and as warranted by the circumstances.

Mathematics as a compulsory subject at the graduate level. Outstanding candidates having B.E./ B.Tech. or equivalent degree in the above subjects will
also be eligible.
(e) Quality, Reliability and Operations Research : A good academic record with M. Tech./M.E./ M.S/M. Phil or equivalent degree in
Quality/Reliability/Operations Research or a good academic record with M. Stat./M. Sc./M.A. or equivalent degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Physics
with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at the graduate level. Outstanding candidates having B.E./B. Tech. or equivalent degree in the above subjects
will also be eligible.
(f) Biological Anthropology : A good academic record with a Bachelor’s degree with Anthropology as the Honours/full subject and a Master’s degree in
Anthropology (with specialization in Physical / Biological Anthropology).
(g) Physics and Applied Mathematics : A good academic record with M.Sc. in Physics / Mathematics / Statistics.
(h) Agriculture & Ecology : A good academic record with M.Sc. in Botany (with specialization in Plant Physiology/Biochemistry)/ Environmental
Science/Applied Mathematics/Statistics.

(i) Sociology : A good academic record with M.A./M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Development Studies/Sociology/ Economics/ Agricultural Economics
or any other subject in Social Sciences.
(j) Geology : A good academic record with M. Sc. in Geology /Applied Geology /Geophysics or equivalent.
(k) Psychology : A good academic record with M.A./M.Sc. in Psychology/Applied Psychology.
(l) Library and Information Science : A consistently good academic record with first or high second class in M. S. (LIS) awarded by the Indian
Statistical Institute or Associateship in Documentation and Information Science of the Indian Statistical Institute or NISCAIR/INSDOC or its equivalent
degree(such as Master's degree in Library and Information Science from any University) with at least 55% marks in undergraduate programme.
Fellowship for 9(a) to 9(l) : i) applicants with M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent : Rs. 14000/- per month and ii) others : Rs. 12000/- per month. A
special fellowship of Rs. 15000/- per month is also available for outstanding candidates in each of the following subjects: (i) Statistics, (ii)
Mathematics, (iii) Computer Science, (iv) Quantitative Economics and (v) Quality, Reliability and Operations Research.

offered at Kolkata and Bangalore; 9(e) is offered at Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad and Chennai; 9(l) is offered only at Bangalore. Remaining JRF
programmes are offered only at Kolkata. Selection of candidates is based on academic record, written tests and interviews conducted by the Institute.
Due consideration is given to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged candidates for all programmes from 1 to 8 above (i.e., excluding Junior
Research Fellowship programme). Detailed procedures for selection of the candidates who have been offered Junior Research Fellowships by the
CSIR/ NBHM are available in the prospectus. Limited hostel facilities are available. Candidates who are due to complete the qualifying examinations
