LBS Centre for Science and Technology-paramedical courses


The LBS Centre for Science and Technology, a State government undertaking, will accept applications online from October 11 for admission to professional diploma programmes in pharmacy and paramedical sciences in government medical colleges and private self-financing institutions in the State.

 Submit only one application for admission to various courses. Admission will be governed by the rules and regulations issued by the Medical Education Directorate.

 For online registration, pay the application fee of Rs.300 (Rs.150 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) in any Federal Bank branch in the State from October 10.

 The bank will issue the application and security key numbers.

 A soft copy of a passport-size photograph and a password are needed for online registration on www.lbscentre.org or www.lbskerala.com.

 Apply online using the application number and the security key. On doing so, a registration Id will be issued online. A printout of the application, along with attested copies of certificates, should be sent to the Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Nanadavanam, Palayam, Thiruvananthapuram – 33 so as to reach there on or before October 25.

Courses

 The two-year diploma courses are in pharmacy, health inspector, medical laboratory technology, radiological technology, ophthalmic assistance, dental mechanic, dental hygienists, operation theatre and anaesthesia technology, cardiovascular technology, neuro-technology, dialysis technology, endoscope technology, dental operating room assistance, blood bank technology, and respiratory technology. The names of the courses and institutions are given in the prospectus.

 Those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with physics, chemistry, and biology, mathematics, biochemistry or computer science are eligible to apply for the course in pharmacy.

 Those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with physics, chemistry, and biology with minimum 40 per cent marks put together are eligible to apply for the diploma course in health inspector and other paramedical courses. Those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes require only 35 per cent marks. Applicants should be in the 17-35 age group as on December 31, 2010.

 Those who secure merit seats in government medical colleges for the D.Pharm. course have to pay a tuition fee of Rs.4,000 a year and in private self-financing institutions, Rs.18,600. For management seats, the fee ranges from Rs.22,000 to Rs.27,500 for various paramedical courses. The tuition fee rates are given in the prospectus.
